Psychosomatics and Psychodrama – presenting a workshop at the 3rd International Tele’Drama Conference

The 3rd International Tele’Drama Conference – From Awareness to Change Beyond Borders: Experiential Methods in Virtual Space took place between the 10th and 13th of November in 2022.

I had the pleasure to be part of the team responsible for the organization of the conference, as well as to present and lead a workshop together with Violeta Azis, PhD. Our topic was related to psychosomatics and how to work with this issue through action methods. We demonstrated an original model and approach to work, which we developed in the last year and we showed how sociometry and psychodrama can work effectively, combining psychosomatic constructs.

Psychosomatics and Psychodrama – workshop by Violeta Azis, PhD, and Alexandrina Milcheva, 3rd International Tele'Drama Conference

Heloisa Fleury, President of the International Association for Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes, was a panelist in the second plenary session, where she presented the history of psychodrama in Brazil.

The Tele’Drama Institute creates an opportunity for international networking and it was where we received a personal invitation from Mrs. Fleury to write an article for the Brazilian Journal of Psychodrama, where we would describe in more detail our methodology for working with psychosomatic patients through psychodrama.

The opportunity to interact and exchange experiences with professionals from around the world is an indispensable resource of knowledge and perspectives. In one of the plenary sessions, students of Jacob Moreno shared their memories, wisdom and messages gained during their professional journey, as well as case studies that have left a mark and influenced the way they work.

Also, for the first time, the first hybrid psychodrama session was demonstrated, based on an idea of Dr. Daniela Simmons (founder of the International Institute of Tele’Drama, President of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, trainer and supervisor), in which groups from Bulgaria, Serbia and India took part in a live session. Daniela Tahirova, who is the exclusive Tele’drama representative for Bulgaria, organized and implemented the participation of the Bulgarian group in this innovative approach of work.

We are looking forward to the next Tele’drama conference, which will take a hybrid form this year in Sofia, Bulgaria.
