What is psychodrama?

Psychodrama is a method that takes place in a group context and allows participants to explore their own difficulties through role-play and other action techniques to help the process of awareness and reflection. Participants can act out their past, present or future events, that bring them anxiety or difficulty in some way .

Psychodrama – what is it

The word is of Greek origin and contains within it: “psyche”, meaning soul and “drama” – action.

The founder of psychodrama, Jacob Moreno, believed that acting out difficulties brings a much greater therapeutic effect, than just talking about them.

Psychodrama helps a person discover repressed feelings and emotions that are getting in the way in different situations. It gives the individual a chance to develop their potential and improve their relationships with others.

Psychodrama is aimed at promoting creativity through improvisation and discovering spontaneous new perspectives and solutions in life.

This helps to go beyond the limits of what we know and to develop a new role that would serve us better in our life situation.

Psychodrama – advice to yourself

And now imagine that ...

  1. 1

You are sitting in the audience and you are about to watch "My Life" for the first time in action.

  2. 2

In the lead roles will of course be all those roles that accompany you every day. The role of the daughter or the son, the wife or the husband, the mother or the father, the workaholic, the perfectionist, the critic, the unlucky, the melancholic and many others.

  3. 3

All of them start running full force across the stage. Some are in a hurry, some are hiding and some want to intervene immediately.

  4. 4

How does it look from the outside? How do you feel? Is there any advice you would like to give yourself? What would you do differently? Is there a role that you feel like you are "stuck" in and find it hard to get out of, a role that if you think about it saps every ounce of strength out of you? What new role would you like to invite into your life?

  5. 5

It's not long before you take a breath and step boldly into your stage, because you already know how you want to proceed.
