Psychodrama therapists from over 35 countries took part in the 4th International Hybrid Tele’Drama Conference

The 4th International Hybrid Tele’Drama Conference took place between the 4th and 11th of June 2023. It was an occasion to meet professionals from all over the world in order to exchange experiences, contacts, experiences and knowledge. 101 presenters participated with a total of 57 topics. The main language of work was English, with the possibility of translation into more than 30 languages (Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Korean, Japanese, etc.) as well as simultaneous translation into Bulgarian.

The Pre-Conference was hosted by Lozenets University Hospital, which has for years established good practices and a strong culture of psychological support for patients and doctors. Violeta Azis, PhD and her team demonstrated a very interesting model of work that they have developed in the hospital, aimed at supporting pregnant women and immediately after they give birth. The conference then continued at the Millennium Hotel, Sofia.

All participants had the opportunity to attend both online and live. The sessions were run hybridly and thus everyone was an active participant. The idea of merging the spaces was the creation of Dr. Daniela Simmons, founder of the International Tele’Drama Institute. The exclusive representative for Bulgaria is Daniela Tahirova.

The program during the conference offered a huge variety of topics, such as: applications of psychodrama in education, psychosomatics, working with dreams, group facilitation, working with Alzheimer’s patients, working with children, monodrama, family therapy, psychoanalysis, transgenerational psychodrama and more. Some of the presenters were psychodramatists known in the world such as Miriam Zakaria (Moreno’s granddaughter), Elouise Florrie, Chantal Neve-Hanquet, Manuela M.aciel, Tian Dayton, Jonathan Fox and others.

Violeta Azis, PhD and I demonstrated our updated and integrated model for working with psychosomatic patients. We received recognition for contributions to psychodrama and sociometry from Edward Schreiber, who was a direct student of Zerka Moreno and specializes in problems in society through Moreno’s Social Microscope.

The conference opened doors to accessibility, knowledge and networking to the world’s leading specialists. Expanding opportunities in the community of psychodrama and sociometry professionals are invaluable resources of development and support in working with patients.
